Problem:
The Chatham Manufacturing Company in Elkin NC, USA needed to remove bale ties, nails, wire and miscellaneous ferrous pieces from raw stock to prevent damage to processing machinery.

mounted in a special frame were positioned above an existing spiked apron feeder. A third party protection device warned the operator when it was time to clean off the magnet. Machinery damage was reportedly eliminated.
