Application: Large Cakes in Foil Pans

The nation's leading supplier to the food service industry that processes baked goods in foil pans could not use a metal detector and could not ship to end users. The company could not ship products to their largest food service customer.

Solution:

An Eriez Large Package (XR-41) Inspection System was installed to detect minute metal and non-metallic foreign objects as low as 1.2 mm Ø.

Problem:

Application: Fresh Baked Tortillas

A major supermarket processing tortillas could not meet 2.5mm sensitivity with a metal detector to satisfy their food safety program as their fresh baked goods are very conductive and the bags were sealed with metal wire ties. The bakery could not ship product until the situation was remedied.

Solution:

The installed Eriez Large Package (XR-41) Inspection System with a “metal clip” ignores algorithm, enabling the supermarket to detect 1mm Ø metal spheres.

Solution:

Eriez Small Package (XR-21) Inspection System with a pattern recognition algorithm recognizes misshaped pies and rejects them.

Problem:

Solution:

A special apparatus containing a bank of Eriez Grate Magnets was added to the base of a feed funnel. The fine contamination was removed before the material reached the sifting screens.

Problem:

Removing hot pan lids from freshly cooked loaves wasted manhours and contributed to clutter at a U.S.-based baking company.

Solution:

Eriez Magna-Rails® rapidly lifted and carried away the hot 9-pound lids from the 4-loaf pans just after they emerged from the ovens.

Problem:

A small U.S. bakery experienced caking in their buscuits caused by imprecise mixing of starch and sugar.

Solution:

The installation of two Eriez Vibratory Feeders automatically proportioned the correct amounts of sugar and starch.

Problem:

Coatings and toppings such as sugar glaze, chopped or shredded nuts and crumbs were unevenly applied on pies, cakes, rolls and etc. Manual sifters took too long and wasted materials.

Solution:

A mid-sized United States baking company installed an Eriez Vibratory Feeder to evenly spread shredded coconut on 10,000 pies daily. Another bakery deposited, among other toppings, sticky glazes with a similar Eriez Feeder.

Problem:

The Jewel Tea Company of Chicago, IL, USA was having a problem conveying slippery bun pans as they left the ovens.

Solution:

Eriez Magna-Rails® were placed under the conveyor belt to control the pans as they were conveyed to an automatic bun de-panner.

Problem:

Iron contamination was affecting the quality of cookies and crackers made by an nationally known U.S. wholesale baker.

Solution:

Eriez Plate Magnets and Grate Magnets were added to the various ingredient processing lines, resulting in greatly improved product quality.

Problem:

A major U.S. bread producer used several manual operations to spread delicate bread cubes on a conveyer belt to reduce product moisture content. The cubes were often damaged in the process.

Solution:

The installation of several Eriez Vibratory Feeders saved valuable manhours, increased production 50 percent and kept damage to the cubes at a minimum.
